All in Elephants

Way back in 2009 I departed from my mom’s house in Delaware on my Great American Road Trip. The plan was to drive West, visiting friends and family, then head South and back across the Southern US which I haven’t experienced much of. The plan was if I ran out of money or my car died, I would find a job and make things work.

A few weeks ago I was sitting in a room with two people in the waitlist to get Teslas. They were talking about what features they were going to get, color options, and all the different models available and the pros and cons of each one. I got so tired of the conversation because it's not one I can participate in. I felt, at the time, that it was because I can't afford a Tesla.

My deadline to get the house cleaned up was before my roommate returns tomorrow night from her 6 weeks of travel. 6 weeks sounded like plenty of time to tackle this job until I looked realistically at my calendar and available time.

This was the state of things in February 2018. Looking back it's pretty terrible. I think that the insides and the outsides reflect and influence each other. Getting the stuff inside my house sorted and organized and cleaned up is really helping me get some mental clarity and weight off my shoulders. The front yard picture is from 2017, but it didn't change much. In my life I have only been good at chipping away at big projects when it's for school or work, never when it's for myself to make big life changes. That's what this blog is all about though…

Getting this blog set up is going to take some work up front before I start posting about my goals. It's like getting your tools all ready before starting a project so you don't have to run around looking for every tool after every step.

Here's what I need to do to get this set up:
